AI isn’t artificial – it’s brilliantly human

By Jorj Helou, CRHA, PCC

“Oh no, not another article about AI!”

Fair enough. We’re being served AI at every turn, usually in abstract language, far from real life. But stay with me for a moment: what I explored at Transform 2026 had nothing to do with cold robots coming to replace us.

What struck me was the rise of AI coaches: real thinking partners, able to adapt to our reality and support us in very concrete ways… provided we use them with intention and ethics.

Tuesday morning, reimagined

It’s 8:05 a.m. You’re holding your first coffee. Instead of diving headfirst into your inbox, a discreet notification pops up:

“Your 1:1 with Jonathan is at 10. He seemed concerned in yesterday’s meeting. Do you want to simulate an approach before you meet with him today?” – Your coach-AI

This is no longer science fiction. It is a new way to prepare, reflect, practice, and adjust before taking action. The AI coach becomes a safe space to help you show up better in your relationships.

From gadget to strategic ally

The real challenge for today’s leaders is weak signals. Between hybrid work, teams spread between Montreal and Saguenay, and overloaded calendars, the essentials can slip through the cracks.

New tools can now act as proximity radars. They don't just compile date: they can alert you when engagement is dropping, when the tone hardens in a chat channel, or when something needs your attention before it turns into a crisis.

You move out of firefighter mode and step more into the role of architect of your team climate and retention.

Practicing without judgment

Everyone has dreaded a difficult conversation. The AI coach offers a risk-free practice zone to test feedback, sharpen powerful questions, or simulate reactions.

It is a tireless coach that never rolls its eyes, even if you start your sentence over for the fourth time – and it can even chat in "québécois"!

Artificial, yet brilliantly human

Walking through the halls of Transform 2026, a thought came to mind, inspired by what philosophers call the Formula of Humanity.

Emmanuel Kant said that a human being must never be treated merely as a means, but always also as an end in themselves. Too often, modern management falls into the opposite trap: using humans as tools to hit performance targets.

This is where AI can become powerful, if used intentionally. Let’s stop seeing it as some extraterrestrial entity. At its core, it is an extension of human intelligence. It is a new territory where humans once again demonstrate their ingenuity and creativity.

By delegating data analysis and scenario simulations to the machine, we free up mental space. AI becomes the means that gives us back the time and energy to treat our people as the end – not just as a metric or a lever.

Using an AI coach to prepare for a difficult meeting is not dehumanizing. On the contrary, it is leveraging technological ingenuity so we can show up with more presence, deeper listening, and sharper empathy.

It is the human using the machine to better reconnect with their own humanity – and with the humanity of others.

What AI will NEVER replace

AI can suggest words and actions, but it will never replace:

  • Cultural intuition : sensing the nuances of a collective agreement or the right dose of humor after a stressful moment.
  • Deep empathy : feeling a team member’s vulnerability and responding with care and precision.
  • Managerial courage : prendre une décision éthique, parfois impopulaire, et l’assumer pleinement.

That is you. The human leader.

LeaderZone, evolving

After Transform 2026, the question is no longer if we will use AI, but how we will integrate it to amplify our humanity.

The future of work is the Human + AI alliance. Chez LeaderZone, nous sommes prêts à transformer la gestion… sans jamais y perdre notre âme.

What if, in 2026, the “formula of humanity” also depended on our ability to use technology to listen better, understand better, and truly connect?
